Since I don't sell direct, most customers buy from major retail chains, or from Big Fish Audio or other web sites. I really appreciate it when a customer takes the time to track me down through my own site and send me their comments! Below are just some of the comments I've received about the Performance Loops products, or Performance Loops style downloadable loop packs that I sell through my own LoopLibrary.com web site.

Newer comments are posted at the bottom, and I've included links to some MP3 files that users have sent me of songs they produced using loops from either the Big Fish Audio products or downloadable packs they bought through LoopLibrary.com.

-- Stephen Sherrard

"Hi Steve   Hope you're well. Congrats on the official launch of Scott's loops. We're having a lot of fun with the pack you sent me and I've recommended them to a few others on the SONAR NG.

It's amazing how versatile these loops are. Our music is very eclectic, yet the range of the set is wide enough to cover most bases. What's most interesting is the natural feel that Scott imparts, specifically his use of ride and hi-hat, which really bring a great big 'push' to the music. The kit itself sounds brilliant, a superb dynamic mix that drops into most songs without eq and only very light touches of compression and reverb. "

"... they're absolutely the best loops on the market. Nobody realises just how versatile they really are."

"... if you do get to do the multi-track versions, put me down for a set. Definitely"

Hi Stephen,   I received your special promo Performance Loops package a few months ago, but have just recently begun to use them.   I've put a hold on taking in outside projects (unless something really good comes along of course<g>), to begin work on my own CD release. In the past I used a combination of MIDI and samples for drums and I just wanted to let you know what an enormous difference using your loops has made. I'm only in pre-production now, but with the groove built in right from the beginning, all of the other tracks just seem to fall into place. Also, the variation in the performances combined with some creative loop slicing, really adds to the feel of having a "real" drummer.   Excellent work.

Stephen,

A quick note - and a large amount of thanks!

You may recall that over the time we have been communicating I mentioned that I was struggling to get anything worth keeping recorded; I would spend all day in front of Cubase, and still click 'No' when it asked me if Iwanted to save my changes.  I just couldn't seem to get it together.  Mainly in the drums area, which is what prompted me to contact you regarding the Drum loops CD.

Well.  I finally got round - after installing Cubase 5 VST/32 - to trying to put something serious together.  I decided to try and record a cover track as to eliminate 'creativity' problems.  I chose - again, for the third attempt! - to record an old Gary Numan track 'Are Friends Electric?' (this was the previous single to 'Cars', which I think made No. 5 in the States in 1979).

Now lets be clear; I have had Cubase, the DSP Factory and my synth for about a year.  I have never struggled in a studio before, but I was struggling and struggling in my own hobby studio, ever since I bought it all.

So.  Saturday afternoon.  Sit down.  Choose a few loops.  Two hours later, complete song (minus the vocal; I don't have a mike, yet).  I could not believe the difference having the drum loops has made.  And also, how easy it is to put together several loops into a bigger 'performance' (I think this was your unique selling point).  A different feel for the verse .. a few loops strung together that have a bit of extra ride cymbal for the chorus .. even a half-bar fill sample at the begginning.

The difference was from spending 8 hours attempting to get some MIDI drums to sound right, getting half a verse sorted out, and still not being happy ... to two hours, start to finish (including mixed), sounding great.

Its more than the fact that the sound is a real drummer - though this is a major benefit to using the CD's.  Its the fact that I can compile up the drum track far far quicker than before - with far better results - freeing the time up for the more fun/creative things.

So.  Thanks very much.  Onwards to an original piece of music.

Thanks again,
Graham.

Steve,

I got your CDs in the mail on Monday and immediately started using them.  Here's my feedback, in no particular logical order: The readme files on the CDs are well written, but I would have liked to seen some tutorial acid files on there.  Something that would have shown me how you strung together the various loops for the demos on your web page.  I think it would have helped me get started faster because I could have used them as a template or a reference.  Your wave files don't have the copyright and your company name in them like the ones from Sonic Foundry do.  You might want to add that to them.

I like volume 2 better than volume 1 because the filing system and file names make more sense.  In both CDs, I like that the levels are very even.  I didn't have to fiddle with the volume slider at all when putting together drum tracks.  I think you made a lot of improvements in vol. 2 over vol. 1.  The drums sound more stereo, spaceier.  With my headphones on, I could hear different cymbal crashes panned on opposite sides.  I would have liked to seen all of the loop directories named with their musical style.  The only ones you labeled were the blues ones.  I can hear how some of the slower bpm ones would be used for techno when speeded up.  Some of those drum loops with effects on them are far out.  How did you get those sounds?  I especially like volume 1's artist2\100bpm.  I think it wouldn't hurt if you labeled it "samba." I also really like the couple of loops you have of the drummer counting off "1  2  3."  They add so much realism to my songs!  No one will ever know I am using samples.

Overall, I am very pleased with the CDs.  They're exactly what I needed, because much of the time in my music, I am trying to emulate real instruments with synths.  This is hard to do with MIDI because of my lousy drum programming ability.  With your drum loops, I can finally create realistic drum tracks quickly and easily.  Now, all I need to get is Bitheadz's Black & Whites for a really excellent acoustic piano and Fender Rhoades sound.  Any negatives that I brought up are merely nitpicking on my part.

Keep up the good work.  Looking forward to vol. 3.

Sincerely,
Paul

Dear Steve,

Wanted you to know how much I liked the Acoustic guitar loops and the Ovation loops.

I am doing the soundtrack for a PBS documentary and the loops are perfect for the project. Thanks again and kudos to the performer.

Stephen..

Just to let you know that I've been working on a project with a girl I know and she wanted most of the album to be like "The Avril Thing"..The main difference here is that this girl can sing in tune...I cut up a few Scott R loops and he has been playing on most of the uptempo (130-140 bpm) songs..He sounds great on the tracks..Thanks for the loops..They have worked out really well..

Best wishes..

Hey Steve!!!

The song I'm promoting
[TRAIL OF TEARS - A SOLDIER'S STORY]
is my first online using your wonderful drums... Many more will follow!

In this particular song I intertwined the drums with
Native American percussion and the result is magical.

Again, THANK YOU for turning me on to your Drum CDs...
They would have been a bargain at ANY price - and you
can quote me!

Sincere thanks...

Hi Stephen,

I've just bought the Scott Rockenfield Performance Loops sig series through Big Fish Audio after downloading the previews from the looplibrary website as well as purchasing the sampled drums package...

I'm absolutely delighted by the incredible quality and attention to detail.

take care.

Rogue

I'm a new customer of Loop Library; I'm currently waiting on my second order within a few hours to complete -- I couldn't stay away. This site is absolutely wonderful! I've never seen such a nice selection of high quality samples available in small packs.

I'm strictly a Mac person, so having Apple loops available is a major plus, although, since all the loops I've downloaded are so nicely done, I've not had any problems converting the ones that aren't Apple format.

The site design is very good, too, which leads to me wanting to buy more because it's so easy to get around -- good usability goes a long way.

I hope this site continues to do well and grow; I'll be a longtime customer.

I thought you might like to know that the bouzouki samples I recently ordered were used in parts of the score for a production of 'Much Ado About Nothing' here in the UK. The show is a great success and both looplibrary and Joe Wiolliams (who created the samples and loops) were given a credit in the programme

Andrew Whelan (Composer)

Hey Stephen, i just have a question for you. Are you the guitar player on the loops i ordered, because i bought performance loops acoustic guitars vol 1, from big fish audio. It is by far the best guitar loop c.d. i have ever bought, worth every penny. That is the type of product i am looking for, so if you have or will have anything like it, i will gladly buy it from you.

Talk to ya later Stephen...

Jason

Awesome Stephen!

My frustration with acoustic drum loop libraries(won't mention any names!) has always been matching the intros, bridges, fills, breaks(specially the last two) etc to the actualg rooves/loops.

Some libraries have very well-recorded main loops but don't provide entire songs. Hence, it's a nightmare trying to choose the supporting components to complete entire compositions.

It sounds to me like you have it down!

I've been out to the bigfishaudio site to listen to some of your loop work. I am particularly impressed with Scott's CD. Although I love Scott's work with Queensryche, my style is much different than theirs. I am so glad that you didn't add too much ambiance(specially artificial reverb) or double kick to that recording session. You've kept it generic enough that it can be used across many styles of music(to include fusion jazz/rock).

But from the audio samples I've listened to I can EASILY discern that the loops from Scott's session will fit into LOTS of stuff OTHER than metal. Actually, the fact that double kick wasn't used will probably NOT make it attractive to metal producers. Kind of ironic, I suppose.

GREAT job on Scott's CD!

Thanks!

JR

[a follow up from JR...]

Hi Stephen,

Got the DVD last night [Steve's note: the Scott Rockenfield "extras" CD/DVD sold through LoopLibrary.com]. Thanks for the prompt shipment!

I find the material very inspiring. Scott's drumming fits right into the kind of production work I am looking to do. You did a really good job recording his work.

BTW, were the QR loops and the ones with Speer recorded using the same drum set? ie the one in the pictures on your website? Was curious as to how much mixing and matching I can do between those sessions. I haven't had time to test that out yet. [Steve's note: Yes, there were all recorded in the same session with the same kit, and mixed the same way, so all the loops, fills, and hits can be mixed and matched from all the various song performance folders on both the Big Fish Audio product and the "extras" product sold through LoopLibrary.com.]

Hi Stephen, yesterday I received the CD-Rom and today I heard it, is wonderfull, like Vol-1. I'm very happy with this. Thank you for your product. Best regard and God bless you.

VR

Dear Stephen,

I have been highly impressed with the Scott Rockenfield's section of your LoopLibrary.com site.

Being a huge QR and Scott's fan, and producing for my own heavy progressive project, it's quite natural for me to come to you with the following request....

...

Thanks again for your kind attention and for the excellent work (which I do hope you will expand not only wih Scott but also with other great HM drummers - what about Portnoy, just to name one?).

Kindest rgeards

Alex

[original e-mail to Greg Adams via Greg's web site]

Greg,

Really enjoy the Big Band Brass collection. I’m an electronic industrial artist and have never had the resources to include brass performances in my music. I have always wanted to though. Your collection gave me the opportunity! Included is an mp3 I created with your collection…you probably have never heard your music twisted so much.

Appreciate the good work and look forward to future releases!

Monty

[Greg forwarded the e-mail to me, and I sent Monty back some comments and told him a bit about the sessions with Greg Adams and the hundreds of hours of editing work put into the product after the recording sessions that were spread out over several years. Below is Monty's follow up e-mail to me.]

You just made my day! You bet, I would love it if you used the full song on your site. Full credit and a link to www.dimensionzero.com would be perfect (The song is only available via download and won’t be on a physical CD release on CD Baby until next year).

The Perfomance Loops are definitely worth it to DAW musicians and I greatly appreciate your hard work and effort. This was the only product I could find that used real Brass performances with no other instruments and I did a lot of research. My only criticism is I wish there was more of it. I would gladly pay $400-$500 for more songs/content. I know you said financially it wasn’t worth while, but, it’s still a new product so maybe in the future it will be. I would really like to see your company do the same things with an orchestra or just a string quartet even. But, I understand that’s hard if the money isn’t there. It’s going to be a long time before virtual instruments sound real. On the string side the [other product names removed for legal reasons] sounds good but is too expensive and there is a company doing brass. [other product names removed for legal reasons] product which isn’t out yet still doesn’t sound real. So, I was very happy when I found your Big Band Brass collection.

Your products are outstanding tools for musicians that don’t have the resources for hiring excellent musicians to play in a great sounding studio with a great engineer.

My main response to this song from other musicians is how great the brass sections sound and how I did it. I also put a link to your site on my site from the news section so hopefully that will generate some more sales.

Stephen,

Just wanted to let you know that these loops are excellent and by far the best I've found on the web. I will be back to purchase more. Thanks for providing these. I'll pass the word on my message board. I'm a MOD at www.guitars101.com. Thanks again.

Bob

Here's something I did using your guitar loops.

I don't sell this stuff I just do it for fun but I do have a page on soundclick.com. www.soundclick.com/bobmorrison Feel free to post a link or whatever.
